Volunteer Parage.—The monthly inspection parade of the Napier Rifle "Volunteers is annoimced for to-morrow evening at 6 o'clock. which, possibly, was the cause of the fatal event.—An inquest was held by Dr f Hitchings at the Havelock Hote) at 4 p.m to-day. Resident Magistrate's Court.— This morning only one case came before the court — Bqwer y. Coventry. Plaintiff, who fa Quarter master of the Hawke's Bay district, claimed £9 6s 2d on behalf of the Government of New Zealand, for stores supplied and delivered. Mr Cuff appeared for the defendant, wljo was absent in Wellington, and pleaded that his client was not liable. The case was gone into at considerable length, and receipts, &c, were handed in by Oapt. Bower in proof of the liability. His Worship considered the claim fully established, and gave judgment for the amount claimed and 14s costs.
