The Waipawa Soiree on Tuesday evening, Ave hear, passed off very successfully. It is stated by some Southern jourDais, " on authority," that Parliament will be dissolved early in December. We have received a letter from our Auckland correspondent which must .stand over until to-morrow. The letter portion of the English mail via Suez arrived in Napier overland from "Wellington last evening. Rifle Volunteer Band.—The following is the programme of the music which will be played by the Rifle Volunteer Band, at their open-air performance on Saturday evening next :-- March—" I'm thinking of thee, Alice ". : ....W. Accidents with Flax Machinery. —Recent pressure on our spaee has hitherto prevented us from mentioning two accidents which recently occurred at Mr Harrison's flax-mill, Pakipaki. The first accident occurred la«t Friday to a Maori named Taniera, who, while feeding the smutching machine, had his arm drawn in and crushed. He died the same night. On Monday, a boy named George Gardiner met with a similar accident in the same establishment, his light arm being drawn in tq the elbow joint, and crushed. He was at once removed to the Provincial Hospital, and on the following morning the injured limb was amputated above the elbow. He now lies in a very low state,.
