Saturday, Oct. 22. The survey of the Taraiiaki line of railway has been commenced, A resolution has been pa.*sed in the Provincial Council abolishing the office of Provincial Secretary. Jn future, the Superintendent is to do the Government business himself. A memorial to the General Government has also been passed by the Council, praying that -he relations between the Europeans and Titokowaru might be placed on a satisfactory footing. At the Police Court to day two men were charged with -dealing horses from some Maoris. One of them, a man named Edgecombe, was committed for trial at- the Supreme Court,
