ENGLISH COMMERCIAL. The following is Messrs. Miles, Brothers & Cq.'s market report. It is dated London, July 15 : Wool.—Sines the departure of last mail the market has been steady, a spirited feeling prevailing in the trade, and foreigners purchasing freely. The sales progressed favorably till the last few days, when several of the Trench and German buyers, owing to the rumors of war, ceased operating, and left fpr hpme. The home buyers also now appear more cautious, and not as anxious to purchase as before. Port Phillip and Cape wools, being in large supply, have fallen about Id per lb., but at present there is nq perceptible decline in the value of New Zealand wools. Previous to the threatened interruption of peace, business had begun to improve both here and abroad ; 165.Q56 bales have been patalogued to date. Wheat. —In consequence of the long-continued drought, the large purchases made on continental account, and the small number of arrived cargoes, pur market presented fqr some time an animated appearance. Luring the past fortnight, hqwerer, frequent sunny showers have so improved our harvest prospects that prices have slightly receded. Jt would be impossible to predict the future of the trade in view of the state of affairs on the Continent, but in cage of war prices would of course go up. We quote Australian wheat, 53s to, 5,4 s per 496 lbs.; New Zealand, 52 to 535. Elax.—The slight improvement noticed in last report has been maintained. For good and fine qualities the demand has rather improved, and prices are £2 to £3 per ton better. Common qualities are difficult or sale at lower prices than pefore, some parcels having been quitted at prices under former quotations; medium and fine quali T fies are the only descriptions likely to command satisfactory prices in future. For well-cleaned, pjear, bright fibre, like the best native dressed, £42 $p £45 per ton might be obtained in large quantifies! The prices realised at public sales have been a/s under:—Good to fine, £25 10s to £29 10s; Sfdimn, II? to £s4 lQs s inferior, £lO to £l6.
