In the House of Representatives, Mr Vogel lias given notice that he will move for leave to introduce a bill to facilitate traffic with the islands of the South Pacific.

The following notice of motion by Mr Travers was to have been moved in the House last night: —" That in the opinion of this House, it would conduce to the more satisfactory administration of justice, if, npon all trials of issues by jury, the decision ol a majority, representing not less than two-thirds in number of the jury, might be delivered as the verdict of the jury." Mr Haughton has placed a motion on the order paper of the House to the effect that each member of the Legislature be supplied gratuitously with a copy of Mr Justice Johnston's " New Zealand Justice of the Peace."

In the Legislative Council on July 19, the proposed address to her Majesty, on the relations of the Colony and Emipre, and asking for the appointment of an Imperial Commission, was thrown out by 18 to 7.
