The 8.8. St. Kilda, Captain G. Fox, left Napier on the night of Thursday, 2nd inst., and arrived at Poverty Bay at noon the next day: landed stores, &c, and steamed for Opotiki at 4 p.m.; arrived off the bar at 1.30 p.m. on the 4th ; and communicated with the shore. The boat had with difficulty returned to the steamer, when a N.E. gale sprung up, accompanied with rain; and the St. Kilda, was forced to seek shelter under Whale Island, where she remained until Monday, 6th instant, steaming for Opotiki that forenoon; arrived off the bar at noon but found there was too much sea on to land until next morning, when the boat went on shore, brought off Captain Walker and native witnesses required for the conviction of the Maori prisoners lately taken to Wellington. At 9 a.m. left Opotiki, and cnlled in at William King's settlement, where some more natives were taken on board, the steamer resuming her voyage i$ 5 p.m. Had to seek shelter from a very heavy ty.E, gale under Cape Runaway, where she had to remain with both anchors down until Thursday

morning, 9th inst., when she proceeded on her voyage. Experienced a most mountainous N.E. sea along the coast, with moderate westerly wind. Arrived at Poverty Bay at 1 a.m. on Friday, 10th inst., leaving again for Napier at noon the same day. Arrived in Ahuriri Roadstead at 1 a.m. on Saturday; and finding too much sea on to bring up at the inner anchorage, steamed over and anchored close to the Government moorings. At 2 p.m., steamed inside, and made fast to the new wharf. The same day coaled up in readiness to steam for Wellington this (Monday) morning. The schooner Tawera, Captain Kennedy, will leave for Auckland [via Poverty Bay) on or about Wednesday next, 15th inst., with sheep, tallow, and sundry other cargo. The ketch Why Not, Captain Baxter, will leave for Wairoa to-morrow or next day, with a general cargo. The p.s. Comerang, Capt. Chrisp, from Auckland, arrived at Poverty Bay on Friday morning last. She left Aucldaud on Tuesday evening, aud experienced a very heavy N.E. sea on the passage down, which compelled'' Captain Chrisp to seek shelter in Drunken Bay and under Mercury Island. The Comerang was to take stock from Poverty Bay to Auckland. The Wreck Recovery Company's s.s. Taranaki may be expected to arrive here to-morrow from Wellington and Southern Ports, and will have quick despatch for Auckland. The s.s. City of Melbourne, from Honolulu, had not arrived at Auckland up to Tuesday even ing last. The fine ship Mary Shepherd, from London, arrived at Auckland on the 29th May, after a favorable passage of 107 days. The ship Ma lard left Auckland for London direct on the 2nd inst., with a large cargo of New Zealand produce, valued at £2O.BSG 10s, and 12 passengers. A considerable quantity of wool, flax, and tallow from llawke's Bay goes home iu the Mallard. The ship Inflexible is on the berth for London at Auckland —to sail positively on the 25th June. The Colonial Government schooner Edith left Auckland for Norfolk Island on May 28. The ketch Wild Duck arrived at Auckland on May 30, after a long and boisterous passage from Poverty Bay.
