AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Reports to May 13.) [MR ALFRED BUCKXAXD.I At the Haymarket, on Saturday last, fodder was brought forward in much larger quantities than usual. Prices were well sustained and all sold. Horse stock, if low in condition, br not immediately available for work, were at lower values ; but if in condition, whether "hacks or draught, were freely competed for, and fully late prices obtained, At ltcmuera, on Thursday, dairy cows at their profit were better worth. They brought from £l4 to £l7 eacli; quiet store cows in low condition were at lower sales. They brought from £i to £5 os each. A larger than usual supply of well-bred steers and heifer yearlings sold very freely at relatively high prices ; they.brought from 75s to 105 s each ; calves were from 50s to GOs each. Pat cattle of prime quality were in usual supply, and obtained fully last week's rates, particularly those of small size. They brought from 27s (id to 30s the lOOlbs.; second quality were in larger than usual numbers, and sold at less values, bringing from 22s to 25s the lOOlbs.; in all 113 head sold to the trade. The cattle ex Lord Ashley were of very superior quality, but the severe weather they had in the passage had very much injured them. Pat sheep were in moderate supply, but the greater number of medium quality only. Por best quality there was steady competition. Long woolled wethers brought from 18s to 25s each. Half-brcds, in middling condition, from 10s to lGs each. Pigs were of good quality, and in moderate supply only, but barely sustained previous prices. [OAK/EY, GILLES, Als'D HUNTER.] The horse market has been rather slack during the past week, but a considerable number of medium stock have been placed. At the Durham Yards, on Saturday, an average number were offered, and last week's prices were generally sustained, but a want of spirit in the competition was in many instances evinced, but most of the animals were quitted, although upon the whole the sale was dull. Hacks sold from £7 10s to £ll 2s 6d. Light draught horses from £l2 to £ls 7s Gd. At the Junction Yards, on Tuesday, there was a good supply of cattle —105 head—eighty of which, ex Island City, averaged £9 3s each. Provincial beef sold at from 27s Gd to 30s per lOOlbs. Some few very prime animals realised as high as 33s per lOOlbs. Store Stock.—Pull grown were yarded in small number. There were buyers, but sellers were not inclined to accept the price offered. Good young daily cows, at calving, are in demand, at improved prices - We quote dairy cows, at from £l2 12s Gd to £ls 2s Gd ; two-year-old steers, £6 7s Gd to £7 os; calves, from £2 lis to £2 15s ; yearlings, from £3 10s to £!• 5s each. Pat sheep held the late advance, and those ex Star of the South rauged—merinos, from 10s to lis ; half-bred, 13s Gd to 17s 6d. Lambs sold from 8s to 10s Gd each. A large number of pigs met with a ready sale. WOOL AND PLAX SALE AT AUCKLAND. Mil A. Btfcklanu reports as follows:—At the Haymarket on Thursday, May 12, for wool and flax, there was a steady competition for all the wools offered. Half-bred in grease brought 9d; merino in grease 7A to BJd ; washed wools from 8H to the lb. Por flax, inferior samples scarcely obtained a bid. Por many lots no bids could be obtained; but one parcel of good qnality was eagerly competed for, and brought £22 the ton, whilst equally good fibre but not well prepared, brought only from £8 to £ls the ton.
