The following is the subject for debate :—"ls the present system of Provincial Government suited to the requirements of the Colony?" San Francisco Mail Route.— "We have been requested to state that mails for Europe, America, and the West Indies, via San Francisco, will be despatched from Napier by .the s.s. F, Palmer took place on Thursday afternoon last, the attendance being very large. A striking feature in the procession was the presence of nearly a hundred children, belonging to the Sunday Schools and Band of J Tope. The service was impressively conducted by the Rev. G. Morice, and many of those present were affected to tears. In accordance with a wish which had been expressed by the deceased, the hymn which had been sung in the Port Sunday School on the last occasion of his attendance—" Childhood's years are passing o'er us,"—was sung around the grave by the children. Yesterday morning, in the Presbyterian Church, Mr Morice, in preaching from Numb, xxiii, 10, took occasion to refer to the life and labors of the departed elder of the church.
