Wm. FISHER, L 27 Secretary. -R. JOHN J. WILLIAMS.—An En- _ plish letter, addressed to you, lies at the office of this paper. 19 We take the following paragraph from the Fiji Times, Nov. 20 :—News reached town yesterday that Messrs St. John, Jennings and Fuller had taken active measures suppressing the sale of arms and ammunition, the disposal of which to the natives in their district had been causing them much uneasiness. From what we can learn it seems that Messrs. Wilson, Hamilton, and Co. of Tavinui, chartered the Pio None-, and despatched her to the Pv,a Coast, with arms and ammunition, in quest of labor. The above gentlemen, on hearing the mission of the craft, determined to take steps to protect themselves, and seized the arms, vessel, and master (a half-caste.) The first they destroyed; the latter, having been warned by them some little time since not to bring ammunition, was awarded a sound thrashing, and the vessel sent to Leyuka for the American consul to iieal with.
