Bazaar.—Tn. accordance with recent announcements, a bazaar was -opened on Tuesday la<<t in the Oddfellows' Hall, Tennyson-st., in aid of an evangelizing movement in connection with the Scottish Presbyterian Church. We believe it has been well attended, and has proved a success.

Michael M'Neill (or O'Neill) the youth apprehended on Sunday for horse-stealing, was brought before the Resident Magistrate on the following: morning, charged with the offence. Mr Inspector Scully produced a telegram irom the Wanganui police which had led to the arrest, and the prisoner, who admitted that he was the person '• wanted," was remanded to .Wanganui to be fully der.lt with.

New Stamp Duties.—lt is important for the public to know that several alterations have been made! in the Stamp Act, and especially that after the 31st December next, Bills of Exchange, Drafts or Orders for! the payment of money, and Promissory Notes, requiring a stamp ofj greater value than a penny, must be drawn on stamped paper, instead of affixing the stamp a« is now done. I We understand that the Stamp Office in Wellington is at present busy: preparing large supplies of stamped; paper. Napier Garhick Club.—" Used Up," and the "Bride of Abydos," were again produced at the Oddfellows' Hall on Monday night. The attendance was not so good as on the occasion of the previous performance, but this fact did not make any perceptible difference in the acting, whicl: ; to our fancy, was better than before. Mr Tom Kemp's benefit is fixed for Friday next, 31-:t inst., instead of the Ist Jan., as previously announced, when we hope to see a good attendance.
