DUNEDIN. [FROM OVR OWN COKBESPONDEJfT.] ; Oct. 12, 3 p.m. The steamship Omeo, from Melbourne, arrived at the Bluff at 7 o'clock this morning, bringing dates to the sth inst. The election causes great excitement at Collingwood. The steamship Great Victoiia, from England, arrived at Melbourne on the 4th inst. Bishop Gould, proceeds to New Zealand early. Heavy rain has fallen throughout the Australian Colonies. Flour, £ls ss; maize dull, 5s to 5s Id; oats, 5s 4d to 5s 6d, Market steady. In Sydney a meeting of merchants has been held, for the purpose of forming a committee to confer with London wool houses, with a view to, introducing an improved method of selling wool.
