Arrival and Departure of the s.s. Star of the South. The favorite stock steamer Star of the South, Captaiu Bendall, left Auckland on Tuesday, 28th Sept., at midnight. Experienced strong S.W. winds across the Bay of Plenty, and rounded the East Cape at 11 p.m. on the 20th ; from thence had strong southerly winds and heavy head sea; took shelter at Wangawehi at 8 p.m. on the 30th, and left again at 3 a.m. on the Ist October ; had a strong souther and heavy head sea until rounding Portland Island; from thence experienced fine weather with heavy swell; anchored in the Ahuriri roads at 4 p.m. the same day, and entered the Iron Pot at noon on the 2ud. The Star steamed '.for Auckland at 5 p.m. yesterday, with 64 head'cattle and 367 sheep. Miscellaneous. The ketch Wild Duck sailed for Auckland via the Thames on Thursday morning. The ketch Enterprise, for Poverty Bay, and the cutter Maliia, for Wairoa, took their depar. ture yesterday. The schooner Colonist, bound south, bore up for shelter on Thursday morning off Gable End Foreland.
