S" PURSUANCE of tho provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand, intituled "The Provincial Elections Act, 1855," I, John Cueling, Esquire, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of the Town of Napier, do hereby give notice that by virtue of a Writ, Living date the twenty-eighth day of September, 1869, issued under the hand of his Honor the Superintendent of the Province of Ilawke's Bay, an Election will be held for the return of a qualified person to serve as a Member of the Provincial Council of Hawke's Pay for the said Electoral District, in the place of Samuel Locke, Esq., who has resigned his seat for the said Electoral District, and that the nomination of Candidates will take place at the Eesident Magistrate's Court House, at noon on TUESDAY, tho fifth day of October, 1869; and that the Poll (if necessary) will be taken on WEDNESDAY, the Bixth day of October, 1869, and the state of the Poll declared at the close thereof.
