Christchurch, Sept. 26. A fire took place this morning, destroying Messrs. Jacojbs and Isaacs' store. The building, which belonged to Mr William "Wilson, was insured for £I,OOO, and the stock was also insured for £1,000,—£250 in the Globe Insurance Company, and £750 in the New Zealand Insurance Company. Sept. 29, 10 a.m. The Supreme Court was opened by special commission on Monday, Sept. 27, for the trial of Maori prisoners in the hulk. On that day Wi Tamararo, whose trial took place under the "Disturbed Districts Act," was found guilty of murder and sentenced to be hanged. On Tuesday, Manihira Pere was charged with high treason and found guilty; his sentence was deferred till to-day.
