TAURANGA.
(From the Southern Cross, 18th August.) By the arrival of the Colonial Government s.B. St. Kilda last night from Tauranga we ilearn that one of Te Kooti's men had visited Tauranga on Monday last. He stated that about thirty Ngatiporous weie at Katikati, and that Te Kooti himself was also with them. A small vessel was seen off Katikati from the St. Kilda on her down trip from Tauranga, which, on the St. Kilda'a near approach, immediately disappeared up the river. H.M.S. Virago was still lying abreast of the township when the St. Kilda left. The St. Kilda has come up to Auckland for stores for Major St. John's field force stationed at Taupo, instead of proceeding to Napier for them, as was previously intended. She will leave again to-day for Tauranga, and from thence proceed to Napier.
