THE 18th ROYAL IRISH TO REMAIN IN THE COLONY.
The Taranaki Herald says : —We ha' 3een a letter dated 21st May, from a mil tary gentleman in England, who shoul be a good authority, in which he write "I am rejoiced to hear that the Colon has asked tor troops, and that the Imperii G-overnraent has determined to allow til 18th Royal Irish to remain in the countr/j We hear also that the Imperal Parliamej will be inclined to guarantee a moderaj loan provided the money will be empk>y| in making roads through the Nortbfli Island.
