TAUPO.
Reports were received yesterday from the two scouts at Runanga. Tbe Hauhau scours had been within two-and-a half miles, and had burnt down some whares where our people used to stop. No communication had yet taken place between Fort Galatea and Runanga ; but Colonel St. John was expected at Runanga any moment. Paora Hapi reported Te Kooti to be still at Runanga. Lieut,-Coionel Lamberfc proceeded yesterday to Pohui and Haroto to see that the posts there were in a proper state of defence. Capt. Swindley arrived here to day per St. Kilda, and will proceed to take the command at Horoto, to which place reinforcements from Wairoa are under orders. The workmen have been armed, and the force already there is able to defend itself against any attempt at surprise.
