The p.s. Sturt steamed for Wairoa, Poverty Bay, Bay of Plenty, &c, on Saturday night. A meeting of the jtfapier Rifle Volunteers will take place on Wednesday evening next, at half-past 7 o'clock, —one of the objects of the meeting being to elect a captain. Missing,—The schooners Joanna and J. B. Russell—the former vessel well-known at this port —are, we regret to hear, missing. It is feared that they have foundered off the East Coast during the late heavy southerly weather. Supreme Court.—Our report of the proceedings of this Court is unavoidably held over, and we are only able to give the results of the cases. The natives charged with treason are to be tried in Wellington; a lad named Dureen, was sentenced to 10 years penal servitude for horse-steal-ing ; the case of Reynolds v. Robin son was decided in favor of plaintiff —damages, ,£BS ; and on Saturday the case of France v. Buchanan was decided—verdict for plaintiff, £8 10s and costs. The Court sits to-day in bankruptcy.
