WAIROA.

Mr. Felix Goulet, with his family, had a narrow escape from a party of rebels on the morning of Sunday the 7th. He was about leaving for Clyde with a canoe-load of wool, in charge of two friendly natives, when he was alarmed by hearing several shots tired, and seeing a number of natives not more than 200 yards away, It does not appear that they wished to take his life, as otherwise it seems almost impossible that\ he could have effected his escape, and brought off his wife and three children, which he did in another canoe. It was hoped that news would be heard of the two natives with the wool; but up to the latest received last night they had not turned up. A party of 40 friendly natives had been told off to seek after them. It would, however be premature to conclude that they had been killed. !
