THE LATE MEETING.
The following- letter from Mr W. Coleuso appears in last Tuesday’s Heralcj. Sir, —In the Herald of the 20 f h, in speaking of the Education Rate, you say that you “ republish (from the Times) what is probably a revised report” of what was said at the meeting pu Monday evening; and as the editor of the Times, in his paper of this morning, has not thought proper, to take any notice of your statement, and as his silence might be reasonably taken as meaning assent, I write now to say that I knov/ of no revision of the report, having not only never seen it before it was published, but also had no, coramunica tiou whatever with either reporter or printer. Had I seen it I should, corrected a fevy words —such as “Te Auto school estate being worth £sooowhat I said was —containing 5000 acres.—Yours, &c., W. COLENSO. Napier, Feb. 23, 18G9. —We give the above insertion, merely adding our opinion that, in justice to the journal that furnished the report of the meeting, Mr Colenso should have sent the correction to this office. Our silence respecting statements in the Herald by no means implies that they have our assent.
