CLEAKED OUTWARDS. FEBRUARY.

The fine twin screw steamer John Penn, Captain Carey, left Nelson on Friday, 19th inst., at 1 p.m., and arrived at Wellington at 3 p.m. on the 2'Uh. Left for Napier at 7 o'clock the same evening, and arrived here at JO a.m, on Monday last. Captain Carey reports having experienced strong head winds throughout the voyage. The John Penn brought up a general cargo and several passengers, and steamed for Auckland at -i p.m. on Tuesday last, with 500 sheep and 12 head cattle.
The schooner Muriwai, W. Jones, master, arrived in port at midnight on Tuesday last, from Wairoa, with a cargo of wool, fruit, &c., and several passengers. The Muriwai left Napier on the sth inst., with light southerly wind and rain. Arrived at Wairoa the next day at 2 p.m. Having waited a considerable time for cargo, she again put to sea at 2 p.m. on Tuesday last, with a northerly wind, which she carried till arrival in the Iron Pot as above. Captain, J ones reports that the bar. is in a Urst-rate state; also, that the schooner Hero left Wairoa for Mobaka and Napier at 7 o’clock on Tuesday morning. The Muriwai, we believe, will leave again for Wairoa on Saturday next. The schooner Saucy Lass, J. Mathesou, master, left Auckland on the 9th inst. for Mahurangi, and arrived there on the 11th ; left there on the 15th, and arrived at Mercury Bay the same day; left for Napier ou the 19th inst.; had strong head winds to the East Cape, which was rounded at 7 p.m. on Tuesday last; had strong northerly winds from thence to port, arriving in the roadstead at noon yesterday, after a clipping run of 17 hours from the East Cape. Passed the John Penn off Portland Island at (J o’clock yesterday morning.
