There was a heavy sea rolling into the Bay yesterday, owing to prevalence of strong northerly weather.

Steamer for Auckland. —The B.s*. Ahuriri, due here from Wellington to-day, is announced to steam for Auckland to-morrow (Friday). Sealed Tenders will be received at' the Superintendent's office np to noon to-morrow (Friday), for the delivery of 11,732 feet of sawn timber at Eperaima B.udge. A Good Run.—The favoiite schooner Saucy Lass, which arrived fiom Auckland yesterday, made the run from the East Cape to the Anuria roadstead in 17 hours—not bad ■work for a sailing a essel. Fisheries —Messrs. H. E. Sealy, Joseph Rhodes, E. L. Green, and 0. H. Weber have been appointed members of the Commission to inquire into and report upon the Fisheries of New Zealand. Consolidated Revenue. —From the New Zealand Gazette we find that the sum of £54,109 10s 2d was paid to the Provinces for the quarter ending 31st Dec, 1868. Hawke's Bav's share was £197 lis 4d. Mu J, H. Wallace will sell by public auction, at his sale rooms., Hunter-streer, Wellington, at 2 p.m. on Friday (to-morrow), Feb. 26, the wreck of the s.s. Taranaki, including all gear and machinery connected with the vessel, as she now lies in Bowden's Bay, Cook's Straits, New Zealand. (See advertisement in first page.) Band of Hope Treat. —Through the kindness of 3|r Sturm, who haa placed his large paddock at the disposal of the committee, the annual treat to the children belonging- to the Band of Hope and the Sabbath Schools connected with the Presbyr terian Church will be held this sear son in town. It is arranged to take place on Tuesday next, 2nd March, the weather being favorable; and we ha\e no doubt that a goodly muster of young folk will be found on the ground, The paddock, as is well known, is situated on the hill top to the east of the Shakespeare-road, and is well adapted for the purpose. We wish the young party much enjoyment of their annual holiday.
