T H E STAR OF THE SOUTH DISMASTED.

We have been obligingly furnished by Messrs. Watt Brothers with the following particulars respecting an accident which happened to the favorite stock steamer Star of the South, Captain W. Bendall, on her last voyage from Napier to Auckland. It will be remembered that the Star left port at 10 a.m. on Monday, 15th Feb,, with a strong southerly gale, and thick rainy weather. Her cargo consisted of 1,200 Bheep j had also on board three passengers. Wangawehi, Feb. 13, 1869. Dear Sirs, —I think that it was the s.B. Star of the South that passed Portland Island on Monday, She appeared to me to have her foremast pnd maintopmast gone.—l am, Sirs, yours truly, • George Walker. Messrs. Watt Bros., Napier.
