' j Native Texst. —A large feast was given by Tareha at the Wai-o-hine pa on Thurs- i day, Friday, and Saturday last, the object I being as usual to settle questions of a political character. Thursday was spent chiefly j in'preparation ; but na Triday and Saturday a considerable number of Europeans were present. Ills Honor the Superintendent, Ids Honor Mr Justice Johnston, the Rev. J. LI all, and a goodly number of ladies were among the visitors. Natives attended from Wanganui, Taupo, Wairoa, Ac., the great subject of discussion being the title of friendly natives to portions of iconfiscated land in this Province. The !question is now in a fair way of being sethied. A well-rigged flag-staff, from which floated a score o. uugs, g-v„ a gay appearance to the scene, and a large native house, weather-boarded and shingled without, and adorned with ornamental native mat- ' work, carving, and painting, was much ! admired.
