AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Mr Alfred Buckland’s report for the week ending 27th March: — At the Haymarket, on Saturday last, fodder was in usual enquiry, and without variation in price; rye grass seed h) ought from 2s to Its ; cocksfoot, 6s 6d ; Cape barley, 3s 6d; and oats, 6a Gd the bushel. A superior draught mare, £66; medium draught horse stock, Irom £6 10s to £l4 ; backs from 40s. At Henderson’s Mill on Wednesday, about 7'< head of cattle were penned, and above 60 head sold. There was a numerous attendance, and good prices ruled. The sale held at Waiuku, on Wednesday was but thinly supplied with stock ; not half as many as usual; the attendance was also more limited. Tor the stock brought forward there was good competition, and the prices obtained were in advance of those ruling nearer Aucklaud, Leicester lambs, equal sexes, brought Ms and Gd each ; daily cows, £9l2s fd to £1415s ; calves, 35s to 425; yearlings, 75s each. At Eemuera, on Tuursday, dairy cattle at their calving were in better request. Store Cuttle offered sparingly and were also in belter enquiry. Fat cattle were in moderate supply, and | met with a very irregular market, hut the average price obtained was higher than last week. For breeding ewes there was a good enquiry, and all offered were sold at a considerable advance over last weeks’ prices. Fat sheep of good quality were also better worth, hut middling quality were comparatively unsaleable. Few pigs were penned. Small-sized porkers fit, for slaughter sell higher than other descriptions of stock. j
Messes. Wm, Hunter & Co.’s report for the week ending 27th March: —
On Saturday last there was a good number of horses; nearly ail were sold. Good hacks sold from £7 5s to £l2 5s each; draught horses from 41 a ids to £l2 each. Some good oats, from 'VVangarci, sold from 3s 9d to 4s 6d per bushel. On Tuesday last at the Newmarket, there was a good number of cattle, the greater part were sold. Dairy cows were scarce; they sold from £9 10s to £ll 12s 6d each | backward springers, from £7 10s to £8 12s fid each. Of store cattle there was a good number; 2-year old gtetrs. £4 2s fid each; 3-year old steers from £5 7s fid to £6 7s fid; calves, £2 6s each; 2-year old heifers, from £4lss to £5 10s each.
Pat Cattle: There was a fair supply, all in were sold at from 30s to 35s per lOOlbs. Sheep; There was a good number of sheep; half-hreds sold from 14s to 22s 64. There were po lapibs in the market. Pig Market; There was very few; all in were sold at good prices.
Waiuku Sale, on Wednesday, there was very few cattle, nearly ail in were sold. Dairy cows were scarce, they sold from £9 to £9 10s each ; 3-year old steers sold from £3 12s fid to £4 2s fid; calves, from £1 25113 to £3 2s 7d each. There was a good number of pigs, which sold at good prices.
