Telegraphic Reform:.—The subject of telegraphic reform is now attracting attention in Great Britain, and is likely soon to be brought before the British i’arliament. Two chief reforms are proposed : first, the establishment of a government or po'tal telegraph, and, secondly, the introduction of the “typo-telegraph.” The first project is simply to make telegraphy a part of the postal system. It ia urged that the only way to bring the tarilf ot prices down low enough is to establish a postal telegraph ; and that it be not only low, but uniform for al distances. It is the success of the recent adaptation ot savings bank business to post-office operations which now promotes this greater sehem of putting telegraphing under the care ot the national postal machinery. The other reform, that of introducing printing messages from type, and hence requiring nr translating and transcribing, we all under Stand. But the postal telegraph is really a wonderful scheme, and will soon eiien | great discussion.—Panama Star d: Herald Registration of Letters in the British Post Office. -The London Gazette contains regulations by the Post-master-General, to come into force on the first of October next, for the registration of post letters transmitted between the United Kingdom and the following colonies :—Antigua, Bahamas, Barbadoes, Bermuda, British Guiana, Canada, Cape of Good Hope, Gey cm, Dominica, Bust Indies, Falkland Islands, Gambia, Gibraltar, Gold Coa-t, Grenada, Honduras. Hongkong,Jamaica, Labuan,Lagos, Malto, Mauritius, Montserrat, Nevis, New Bru swick, N. w Foundland, New Souli \Vat-.-s, IS ova Scotia, Prince Edward's; Island, Queensland, St. Helena, St, Kitts St. i uci.i, St. Vincent, Sierra Leone. South Australia, Tasmania, Tobago Tortola. Trinidad, Turf's Island, Victoria, and Western Australia. The registration rate is 4d., to be paid at the time of posting the letter.—Panama Star & Herald,
