WELLINGTON.
The sittings of the General Assent' hiy are drawing to a close, thougn it will not be possible to end it quite so soon as was at first intended. The House, to hasten its period, resolved to sit on Mondays, in order to finish by the Bth of October ; this, however, has been abandoned as impracticable. The Thicker Committee bad finished their labors, and their report was in preparation. We understand that they have given the whole question a lengthened and patient investigation, and trust that it will be finally set at rest. The Wellington papers are singularly barren of local news.
