NELSON.
From Nelson we have important intelligence comprising the discovery ol a rich gold field, near Colling wood, for which many of the miners had left their claims. The gold is obtained by deep sinking, but the return isalmosi fabulous, and great excitement prevailed at Nelson. A murder has also been committed at Westport, the victim having been found lying partly in Deadman’s Creek, the skull being fractured. The body was that of a man named James Lennox. No clue bad been obtained of the perpetrators of the murder.
A great movement has been inaugurated for the reduction of taxation under the title of a Financial Reform League. Sixty persons enrolled themselves as memcers at a public meeting, aud it is proposed to carry the organization throughout the.Cvlony.
