Messrs Toogood, Duncan, K. J. Touct, Urabam, amt Bereslord.— Jtoutiedgs, Kennedy, & Co , agents, ARRIVAL OF THE PANAMA COMPANY'S S.S. LORI) ASHLEY. The Panama Company’s s.s. Lord Ashley, Cap;. Vlorsp, left Napier at 12.30 p.m. on Monday, the 3rd instant, v,i:h a gale of wind and heavy sea. On the 4th, hud strong easterly gales, with high eea and flock weather ; taking water on boa rtf continually. Hove-ro in the Bay for twenty hours. On the sth, experienced light breeze and ctoiuly weather. Arrived oil Taurauga at 7 p.m. ; at 10 p.m. landed one passenger and the mail. Gut under weigh at midnight, and steamed for Auckland ; had moderate breeze with line weather, and arrived off Queen-street Wharf at A3O p.m! On the 12th, was ready fur sea again ; hut received notice Iron) Government to postpone sailing gutil 3 p.m. next day, to receive the mails executed per Airedale. On the loth (the Airedale having arrived), left Auckland, and arrived at Taur.-mga at 0 a.in. on the 14th ; landed 21 passengers and mails; left again at 10 a.m., and mriM'd off the East Cape at 10'30 p.m.; encountered strong southerly and sou'-west winds, with heavy head sea. At 9 a.ra. on the loth, arrived oil Gable End Foreland. Experienced strong gales and heavy head sea throughout the day-—the ship making scarcely any way against it, and shipping seas continually. "At’s-30 p.m., fetched in under Table Gape, and anchored, hading it impossible to get round Portland Island, or make anyway against the violent wind and sea. At jj a.m. on the Kith weighed anchor, and made an attempt to get round Portland Island, hut found the sea too heavy for the ship to make any head-way—at times she would not steer ;so Cnpt. Worsp was compelled to put back and amiin ftachor under Table Cape. Shortly after anchorjug, the wind ir.crrr.red to a heavy gale, and dm pug the night blew with great violence—the ship being hardly held with Loth anchors down. This Weather continued until about 4 a.m. on the ISth (Tuesday last), when the anchor was again weighed, find steam made for Napier—coming to the anchorage nt 12-30 p.m., after a tempestuous passage of five da\s. The Lord Ashley steamed for Southern Provinces at about 3 o’clock on Tuesday evening. 'The cutter Agnes sailed for Poverty Bay on Tuesday evening last. Ihe cutter Dolphin still remains snug in the Iron Put—Captain Schon evidently preferring to remain where be is, then run the risk of lying for fn unlimited period under Long Point. the brig Lebe arrived at Auckland on the 13th Vgrt from |Pjdn-y, having left that purl on the !*'!• 'M'-it. • ■

The new schooner Annie, ns will be seen by advertisement, is tin the bi-ril; for Pofaiigiihmi slid Black Haul—to sail on Tuesday next, should ininducenjent oiler, Tiis s.s. Star of the South may bo expected here about Saturday or Sunday —probably before, should the wind go round to a more favourable quarter. The cutters Hero and Betsy, and sehaaner Success, had all left Auckland for this part. The former was seen off Mercury Bay on the Bth inst., wind-bound; the two latter were to load timber at Wangapoa. We eau scarcely expect to see these vessels before a change of wind. l iift s.s. Wellington (or other steamer) is due from the Southern Provinces on Sunday next, 23rd inst., with the English Mails. The Sydney papers to hand (up to the isi of June) contain nothing that wo can see respecting the brig Maggie. We presume the brig still rib mains in that port. The little Auckland-built steamer Tauranga, the property of the Bay of Plenty Steam Navigation Company, made her ollicial trip at Auckland on the 13th inst. It was at first intended to proceed to Kuwait, but the sea was too rough. She steamed up and down the harbor, and, we understand, had a trial of speed fur a short distance down the Waitemata with the Lord Ashley as that steamer was leaving for Napier, in which the “ little-un ” behaved admirably—just keeping up with her formidable rival. The Tauranga was to commence loading immediately on her return to Qacen-strcet Wharf, and, when ready for sea, would steam for Tauranga. We wish her a long and prosperous career ; and, perhaps, we may some day be gratified by a visit from the little vessel.

The brig Susan arrived at Auckland on the 12th inst., from Newcastle.
