I, DONALD M‘LEAN, Superintendent of the Province of Hawke’s Bay, do hereby proclaim and notify that the Land described in the annexed Schedule will be open for public selection under the Land Regulations now in force in this Province, at the Laud Office, Napier on and after Tuesday, the 28th June, 18(17. Containing 5,14 acres more or less, the! boundaries commencing on the coast at Uruti running inland to Puke te anuij the different lines bearing 30 deg. It min., 191 deg. 44 min., and 41 deg. 4o min., hOO, 2500 and 6700 links, thence along the top of the range towards Parikikauni on the coast in Waikokopu Bay the bearing being 3 deg. 32 93 deg. 40, 293 miu., 34 and 128 deg. 17, 2001, 1490 2004 and 910 links respectively excluding 30 acres as delineated In the plans of the Office. O CONTRACTORS. The Telegraph Commissioner is prepared to receive Tenders for the Supply and Delivery of 2,460 Poles, more or less, for a Imo of telegraph to be constructed between Castle Point, in the Province of "Wellington, and Napier, in the Province of Hawke’s Bay, The poles to be sawn from the heart ol Totura, Matai, real Blue Grum, or Stringy Hark. The poles to be of thofollowiuglengths— A few forty feet long, twenty-four inches square at the butt, and eight inches square at the top ; to he charred lor a length of twelve feet. A few thirty-five feet long, eighteen inches square at the butt, and eight inches square at the top. These poles to be charred for a length of nine feet from the butt. The major portion to be twenty-five feet long, eight inches square at the butt, and six inches square at the top. These poles to be charred for a length of six feet from the butt. No polo to be charred till it has been cut for thirty clear days. The poles to be sound, straight, free from sap, and shakes. N.B.—No poles wiU he accepted that contain the least sap. The poles to be delivered at distances of about four chains apart along the road from Castle ioiut to W adnata, Porangahau, "Wallingford, W apukurau, "Waipawa, Kaikora, Te Ante, and Havelock to hiapier. Separate tenders must be made for the portions of the line between Castle Point and Poiangabau, and between Porangahau and Napier, and must state a price for each description of timber. Tenders are to specify a price per pole as per sizes given. Each lender must be accempanied with a deposit of £25, as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited should any tenderer refuse to sign the contract in the event of his tender being accepted. _ The usual sureties will be required of the accepted tenderer. Specifications can be seen and farther particulars obtained at the office of the Telegraph Engineer, Telegraph offices. Wellington, or at the office of the Provincial Engineer, Napier. Tenders addresead, “ The Telegraph Engineer, Wellington,” and cnaorsed, “ Tender for telegraph poles between Castle Point and Napier,” to be sent in not later than the 20th day of June next.
