Post Office Notices.
PANAMA MAIL SERVICE. To Chief Post mas!ere. Postmasters, and S/ibPostmas/ers. In consequence of an arrangement, effected with the Directors of the Panama Railroad Company, the New Zealand postage on newspapers conveyed i by that route will be reduced from threepence to one penny each. No alteration wiii take piaee in the foreign rates, accounted for by this department to London and Panama, on newspapers addressed to foreign countries. Corrected tables of rates will ho furnished as soon as they can be got ready ; in the meantime Postmasters' will be guided by the present table, taking care that twopence deducted trom the present rates ns enumerated in the (able now in their possession. Postmasters will bring the above alteration into immediate operation, and give every possible publicity. By order of the Postmaster-General, G. Eliott Eliott, i Secretary, General Post OTec, !
