Panama Mail.— The s.s. Lord Ashley, due here on Saturday next, will probably be the bearer of our portion of the English mail via Panama. The outward mails by the same route close at the Chief Post Office, Napier, at 2 p.m. on the 2nd March. New Advertisements. LECTION NOTICE In pursuance of the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of New Zealand intituled “The Regulation of Elections Act, 1858,” I, Oswald Carr, Returning Officer for the Electoral District of Petane] do hereby give notice that, by virtuo of a Writ bearing date the seventh day of February, 1867, issued under the hand of His Excellency the Governor and the seal of the Colony of New Zealand, an Election will be hold for the return of one qualified person to serve as a Member of tiie Provincial Council of the Province of Hawke’s Bay for the said Electoral District; and that the nomination of candidates will take place at the School-house, Petane, at noon on FRIDAY, the fifteenth day of March next, and that the pell (if necessary) will be taken on SATURDAY, the sixteenth day of March next, and that I will declare the result of the poll at the close thereof. Passengers, Specie, and Goods booked through to Southampton, to Panama, and Colon, for East and West Coasts of North and South America, and West Indies. Intending Passengers will please note that they are allowed twenty cubic feet, Ist class ; or fifteen cubic feet, 2nd class. All Luggage must bo delivered at the Company’s Office, twenty-four hours before the departure of the steamer, when it will be labelled, manifested, weighed, or measured.
