The schooner Meteor, in charge of Captain Wm. Jones, (formerly of the Rose Ann, schooner) left Auckland for Napier at S p.m. on Wednesday, Gth February ; rounded the East Cape on the 9th; ihseliurged 10,000 feet of timber and 10.000 shingli's on the coast; rounded Portland Island at midnight on (he 11th ; and arrived here at 1 p.m. on Incsday, 1 Cl It iebruary. The-Meteor brings a cargo of potatoes, building materials, Kc., lor this port, and eight passengers. 1 he whuoner Clyde, Captain Gordon, arrived here early on Wednesday morning, from the East Coast, where site has been trading for the last month. She is last from Maliia, which place she left at 10 p.m., and arrived in the roadstead at 0 a.m. on Wednesday, bringing a quantity ofwha’e oil, onions, and maize, besides 10 pigs' and 1 l;,t bullock. Reports the schooner Kauri as having been at Maliia on Tuesday, At 10 o’clock Hi: t night, a heavy soul her set, upon which both Clyde and Kauri tripped their anchors, the former coming on to Napier, and the latter proceeding northwards. The s.s. Star of the Evening, Captain Turner, steamed .for Auckland on Tuesday forenoon last’ with a cargo of shoe]). Hie schooner Saucy Lass, Captain M'Kenzie, sailed for Auckland at noon on Tuesdav last. The schooner Tawera, Captain Baker, sailed for Poverty Bay on Tuesday last, with a' cargo of sheep. Tiiere was no sign of the Phoebe at 10 o’clock this morning. Owing to the povelance of (he southerly gale the cutter Dolphin, which was to have sailed for .Wairoa on Tuesday last, has not been able to got away. She is loaded, and will sail first fair wind. . The clipper ship Ida Ziegler, Capt. left Auckland for London on the 29th January, willi a full cargo of kauri gum, itc., and 77 passengers, “The wind proved favorable for the Ida Ziegler to go to sea,” says the N. Z. Herald, of the Ist February, “and in bidding farewell to this favorite trader we heartily wish Captain Reynolds, his officers, and crew a speedy passage to Old England, and quick return to this port.” In another part of the same journal wc observe the following —“ It. would appear that as if bidding fair to a quick run home tor (his favorite clipper, she made a good offing from this port on-the day of her sailing, for Captain Bushel], of the Nautilus, reports passing her at 10 p.m. on Tuesday night, off Cape Colville, howling along with a spanking breeze ■ and all sail set. Some very heavy wagers have, J ive hear, been laid on the vessel’s passage homo.” The schooner Celt, Captain J. Sullivan, left ; Auckland on the 31st January for the Tairna Saw ! Mills, to load a cargo of timber for Dunedin. ! The barque Bella Mary, Captain Copping, ar- j rived at Auckland on the 31st January, after a \ tedious passage of nineteen days from Hobart Town. .The Panama Company’s s.s. Egmont will, it is • said, proceed to Sydney during the present month • for thorough overhaul of hnlf and machinery, and be fitted with a larger .screw, which, it is expected, wiR greatly increase her speed. The ship Champion of the Seas cleared at the Customs, Geelong, on the 15th January, for London.
