A TEIBUTB FROM AN"ADMIREK. fITO ease our grateful souls' o’erflow, (Since bursting hearts must find rent) Low on our marrow-bones we fall. Andlaud our Superintendent. ;■ . To save our “pelts” what mighty sums '*■ ->' i On cannibals he hath spent,. Tor countless feeds of ••lilUpee” • They praise our Superintendent. ' To make us filibusters all, This matchless man Is now bent, Auckland to Hawke’s Bay he’ll annex— Our potentSuperinteudent! To butter both sides of his scone, O, Donald he hath weel kent. With rosy gills and rubicund. Behold our Superintendent. Omaranui gave renown, „ Petane’s bold sous have fame lent. To crown his name and celebrate Our martial Superintendent. lUustrlous chief 1 who pays so weU Those who both time and blood spent, Be sure our memories revere Our grateful Superintendent. And 0, of Hau-haus be aware, Who boast, and mean fulfilment, They’ll take thy moko, and tattoo Our wool-kings’ Superintendent. To guard thy well-won fame he sure it is thy slave’s firm in-tent To splfflicate all those who chaff Our august Superintendent.
