Tub sohQoner Kauri arrived here on Tuesday afternoon last, from Tologa Bay. The s.s. Ahuriri arrived here from Wellington yesterday morning, with the Sues portion of the English mall. The Panama boat had not arrived up to the lime of the departure of the Ahuriri, —she being then three days behind the advertised time. The Ahuriri leaves for Wellington this afternoon at 1 o’clock. The s.s. star of the South, wo understand, leaves for Auck and this evening.

Gentlemen, —binding a vessel loaves this for Slclhottvuo tc-day, therefore, in order to relievo any anxiety that may bo felt among my numerous friends for tho safety of the ship, X write these few lines to inform you that I have bean compelled to make for this place, having broken my rudder and had other considerable damage done in the heavy weather in the Southern Ocean. I think it will cause a delay of a month, there being so many disabled shins in port, and our having to discharge a portion of the cargo to lighten the shin aft to enable us to unship tho rudder.
