Commercial Summary.
Tnnjs Office, Wednesday livening. Tub stagnation of business, noticed in our last summary, continues to exist and wa are unable to notice any signs indicative of a change for the better at present. However, as the winter has now passed oil’, and the spring season has come, it is fairly to be lioped that we shall not complain of this ranch longer. At our lastest dates from Wellington, therO was no news of the Napier, then upwards of IpO days out from London ; and serious fears wer® entertained of her loss. She has, or had, largo consignments to merchants of this place of gccd.3 greatly needed at the present time, and which have been anxiously expected for the last two months. Should that misfortune have occurred we must look for a farther rise in price of L a variety of articles, including candles, general groceries, and soft goods, of which stocks are low, and supplies anxiously looked for. The Customs Ecceipts at the Port of Napier, for the month ending 31st August, accounted to £■3,171 4s Bd., —the thrce-eighis of which amounts lo £Bl4 4s 3d. The following have been the shipments of live stock from this port for the period from Inh August to 12th September, 1816, both days inclusive August 14, in the Beautiful Star, 33 head cattle, 7(JO sheep ; same day, in the Joanna, 44 head catilo ; August 16, in the Lady Wynyard, 22 head cattle ; same day, in the Agnes, 17 head cattle ; August 26, in the Star of Urn South, 100 head cattle, and 250 sheep sheep ; September 1, in the William and Julia, 20 head cattle j Sept. 6, in the Star of the South, 119 head cattle, 160 sheep, and 31 cakes ; September S, in the Satellite, 30 head cattle.
