OTAGO. Hesse* Deivek, Maclean * Co.’s Live Stock, Station, and Wool Report. Dunedin, 201 a August. With the exception of an increasing demand for good quality fat stock, we have no material change to notice during the past month. Holders of partially stocked country are beginning to purchase for delivery after shearing, and we have sold a considerable number of sheep of various descriptions, deliverable in January and February next; and should the Home mail now due confirm anticipations as to'an easier money market and peace in Europe, wo may expect an improved demand for investments in both stock and good station properties. Our sales during the month have been larger than for soma time past, at prices as quoted below:— Fat 1 Stock.—Although we cannot report any marked improvement in prices, it is evident that prime qualities of beef and mutton are becoming scarce, and we look for full rates for some time to come. Our sales of cattle at the yards averaged about £lB each, and on. stations, £IG, or equal to about 47s 6d per 1001 bat the yards. Wethers, ,20a to 21s each, or 4Jd to 5d per lb. : Store Sheep.—But few lots are offering for delivery before shearing. There is a good demand for wethers; and one or two: lots havo changed bands.
