Star of tho South, Captain Eendall, left Napier at 8 a.m. on Snndav, 26th August, with 100 head of cattle and .240 sheep for Auckland. Had fine weather for tho first, and strong head winds for the latter part of the passage; and arrived at the Tamaki at 2 p.m. on tho 28th nit. Landed her cattle and sheep in good condition and without any loss, and proceeded up Auckland harbor, where she dropped anchor at an early hour on the morning of tho 2Sih. The schooner William and Julia sailed for Auckland yesterday with 20 head of cattle. •The ketch Hero sailed for Mohaka and Waikari on Thursday night last, with largo general cargo. The cutter Dolphin sailed for Wairoa and Mahia on Thursday night last, with full cargo of Stores. During the Lord Ashley’s passage from Kelson to the Grey, Oaptam Ponsonby observed a heavy break bearing from Reek’s Point K. fay W. (mao-.) about seven miles; the sea appeared to break In about 14 feet. The captain states that the reef is of the same description as tho Ariel’s rocks on this coast. The weather was very hazy, and a a high sea running, so he was unable to get correct cross bearings. The cutter Mahia sailed for Waikari last evening with a full cargo and one passenger. The ship Kapier Rad not arrived at Wellington up to Saturday last, being than 148 days out. The 8.9, Beautiful Star arrived at Wellington on the 26th ult.
