The Sabbath and the Steam Service.—We understand that the Government have it in con* temptation to stop the deparatura of steamers from this port on Sundays, and tiiat both companies are willing to concur in the arrangement. 'Xhis will be a move in the right direction, as the frequent occasions on which steamers have to leave at present on that day, cause a large amount of extra work to Custom-house Post office officials, and to all who are connected with the steamers. A similar role is laid down in almost all the ports in England} and when the commercial world there does not suffer from the detention, we certainly ought not to feel it here. In the case o! arrivals on Sundays, no business will be transacted, and the mails will not be delivered until Monday. —-Wellington Advertiser, 22nd June,
