THE QUEEN’S BIRTHDAY.
[To tlie Editor of the Hawke's Bay Times.J Sie, —Perhaps the “ sporting” portion of the community do not know, or—more properly speaking—forget that next Thursday is the anniversary of the birth of Her Most Gracious Majesty Queen Yietoria. It is some time now since the good folk of “ dull ” Napier have had the pleasure of seeing a regatta; and taking this into consideration, might I be so bold, Sir, as to suggest that the Queen’s Birthday be celebrated by one. Certainly the time between this and that time is limited, but yet sufficient, in my opinion, to enable a few who take a pleasure in that excellent pastime to get up something of the sort. If, however, we cannot have a regatta, is there no other game or amusement we can have? Reminding the people of Napier that that is the last general public holiday they will have till the Ist of iSovember—nearly six months—and hoping that something will be done towards getting up a day’s sport of some kind or another, —I am, &c., A LOYER OF SPORT. Napier, IBth May, 1866.
