Resident Magistrate's Court.— On Tuesday’ there was only one case, viz., Oxenbridge v' King—a claim of £3 12s 6d. Judgment by de' fault for amount claimed and 7s costs. Yester' day, a man named Thomas Meehan was mulcted in the penalty of 5s for drunkenness. The same day, John Robinson was charged by his wile Mary Robinson, with using threatening language to her, and writing a letter threatening to burn her house down. Defendant pleaded that he was drunk at the time he wrote the letter. Ordered to find two sureties of £lO each to keep the peace towards his wife for sis months. Mr Edward Lyndon will, this day,"eonelude the sale of Messrs A. & M. Browne’s valuable stock of drapery. Sale to commence at eleven o’clock a.m. (See advertisement) Mr John Stuart will sell, at the Meanee Hotel, to-morrow (Friday), at 2 p.m., the remaining sections unsold of the Meanee Township; also, cattle, horses, &e., &c. Wo understand that His Honor will return to Napier in the s.s. ‘ St. Kilda.’ Surveyors. —llis Excellency the Governor has been pleased to license Richard Coleman Davis, Esq., Octavius Lawes Woodthorpeßousfield,Esq., and William Busby, Esq, to bo Surveyors under the “ Native Lands Act, 1565.” The Defence Force. —The allotted time for which the brave fellows constituting the above gallant corps enlisted having now nearly expired, the ‘ St. Kilda’ will, we believe, bring them up to Napier when she returns from Poverty Bay, which will most likely be on Saturday next.
