One hundred and sixty are to be brought down to-morrow. The principal of these were taken on Tuesday, making the total number of prisoners two hundred and eighty. Any one can easily see the difference between the friendly natives and the rebels—the rebels are nearly naked, and have a very dejected appearance, while the friendlies look as if they had some one to take care of them, are well clothed, stout, and jolly. A letter to Kopu states that Kereopa has left these rebels for Taranaki.

4th May. On Wednesday night the store of Mr W. Atwood was broken into by a native named Jacob; ho did not succeed in stealing anything, Mrs Atwood having heard him in time. Yesterday ho was brought before the Resident Magistrate, (S. Deighton, i£sq.) and was fined £1 9s for damage done. On Tuesday the same native stole a large junk of meat from the butcher, who took the law into his own hands, and gave him a good horse-whipping. There was a copious fall of rain during the mgnt, making the roads about town rather slippery. Within the last month no less than two hundred head of cattle and eight thousand sheep have been brought up this wav.
