AUCKLAND.
The head-quarters of the 43rd regiment were to embark on board the ship * Silver Eagle’ on Monday,. the 16th inst. (this day) for London. Another illicit still had been discovered, and three men apprehended. The murderer Stack (who was known in this Province) had paid the penalty of his atrocious deeds. Two more fires had taken place—one on the 7th inst., in Edinburgh-street; and another in Victoria-street, on the 12th inst. The latter is considered the work of an incendiary. A man named Edward Brydges had been committed to take his trial at the next sittings of the Supreme Court for arson; another man named Morris Freedman was tried for the same offence, but the case had been remanded. H.M. s.s. ‘Eclipse’ left Auckland on the 12th inst. for the Kawau, for his’Excellency the Governor, after which she would proceed with him to Wellington via the East Coast.
