Sir, —May I be allowed further to ask you to republish a short letter from Mr Thompson, of Dunedin, (just to hand), respecting the ancient bell found in New Zealand ? Ido so that the opinions of the eminent Oriental scholar, Mr Craw'ford, contained therein, may be known j although I do not quite agree with him as to how “ the North Island (of New Zealand) was originally peopled by the Maori.”—l am, &c., Wm. Colenso.
