A Meeting of the Licensed Victuallers’ Association takes place at the Settlers’ Hotel, at 3 p.m. to-morrow. Yesxebbat evening (says the Evening Post, September 9) a ball was given by his Excellency Sir George Grey, at Government House. Tile in citations were numerous, but owing to unpleasant weather and the fact of an important debate requiring the presence of members in the House of liepreaentatives, the attendance was not as large as it would otherwise have been; nevertheless a goodly company partook of the Governor’s hospitality. We regret the same facilities for collecting the names of those present on such occasions, for publicity, do not exist at the Viceregal residence in Wellington, as. elsewhere, for we are in consequence prevented from reporting them, after having made au ineffectual attempt.
