Woof.—At this season we have no transactions to report We gather from our home friends that the May sales were the largest ever held—an aggregate of 169,000 bales; to effect the sales of such a large quantity, a general although we. are glad to say only a slight decline in prices was felt, aud happily from the prospect of peace and the hopes of an abundant harvest, prices it is expected will be maintained. We respectfully call the particular attention of our breeders to the following extracts from our London Agent’s report:—
“ With the rapid increase in the quantities imported from all our Colonies, except Tasmania, it is more than ever necessary that attention should be paid to the growth of N ew Zealand Wool, so as to produce a sample that will not only suit the wants of this market, bat compete with the production of other Colonies. We require a Long stapled W 001, well got up, and free from grass seed. We would father lose a little in qttalily than sacrifice Length of Staple. Good Combing Flocks, from New Zealand, are always weli competed for in this market, while Short Stapled, Wasty Wool, is much neglected.”
