AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. Mr Bcckland’s report for week ending July 21; — At the Haymaket, on Saturday last, very few horses were brought forward for sate, and the prices obtained showed no improvement on late markets. Maize brought 6s 6d; oats, 4s 3d and 4s 6d; bran. Is 9d to 2s the bushel. At the Triangle, on Tuesday, several dairy cows were penned; there were better prices obtained for those sold than have lately ruled at Newmarket. Fat merino wethers brought 25s each. At Newmarket, on Thursday, there was a fuU muster of stock, Dairy cows, although plentiful, were of better value than for several weeks. Store cattle, unless grown stock and in fresh condition, scarcely sold so high. Fat cattle were in full supply, but generally of a secondary class prime animals sold freely at full rates, hut those of inferior quality at first were lower in price, but rallied considerably towards the end of the sale; 129 were penned and all was sold. 60 head Australian cattle, ex Bengal, averaged £l2 14s each. Store wethers, ex Bengal, brought 19s each. Fat sheep pens were all filled; thosej of good quality sold freely at pretty late rates, hut many of second quality were passed. Good veal calves were in demand, and sold freely; ,and there was an inquiry for working oxen, hut none were offered. Pigs were Improved inquiry, HUNTER AMD CO’S REPORT. Cattle.—At our Newmarket sale on Monday, fat cattle fully maintained the improved prices lately quoted, the supply being small and competition brisk. Dairy cows were fairly supplied, and brought satisfactory prices. No hand-fed stock in the market. Sheep.— The market was almost hare of fat sheep, and the few that were in brought excellent prices. Store wethers have lately come to hand in considerable numbers, and prices are rather low at present. We sold a lot of ewes in lamb at 38s. lloesks.— We had not a very brisk market last Saturday. A number of hacks and light harness horses were offered, which were nearly all sold. Very little draught stock offering Wo sold about 50 hags oats and maize, at 4s 6d per bushel respectively; also several loads of hay, at from £5 to £6los per ton. Quotations Fat cattle, 40s to £4ss per lOOlhs. Fat sheep, prime, 30s to 355; medium, 24s to 235; store wethers, 18s to 20s. Horses; First-class hacks, from £2O to £35; medium, £l2to £l6; inferior, nominal; heavy draught, £SO to £6O; medium, £3O to £4O. On Friday last, the 14th instant, we held a sale at the residence of John Chadwick, Esq., Epsom, and disposed of the whole of his horse and dairy stock, farming implements, poultry, furniture, &c., at satisfactory prices. o ENGLISH COMMERCIAL. London, May 25. The Bank of England Directors, yesterday, reduced the discount from 41 to 4 per cent. Consuls.— Money 89-1; account 90f. The prospects of peace with America imparted a better tone to the produce markets, which were previously unnaturally depressed' causing an increased demand for bank accomodation. Colonial Government Securities.— Victoria 6 per cents, April-Octoher, 108| to 1091; Queensland 6 per cents, Ja-nuarv-July 103 to 105 ; New South Wales, January-Juiy 100 to lo2; New Zealand 6 per cents, 104 to 106; South Australia 6 per cents, 1878,106 to 108. ' LONDON WOOL REPORT. May 26. The last sales commenced on the 11th May. Total hales catalogued, 168,7000. Sales continue to date well supported and there was a large attendance of home and foreign buyers. All good wools command more attention but faulty and inferior sorts are in low request. Prices rule one penny lower. Of the dearer part of last sales, half of the whole quantity offered to date, for best qualities was purchased by exporters.
