Bank of New Zealand. THE Transfer Books of this Bank will be closed from Thdbsday, the 20th instant, to Monday, the Ist of May, for the compilation of half-yearly lists and calculations of dividends; and it is hereby notified to shareholders that unless otherwise specially provided for in the transfer, the practice of the Bank of New Zealand in regard to payment of dividends in future will be to make the same payable to the person in whose name the shares stood at the closing of the books, no transfers subsequent to that date carrying accrued dividends. Conveyance of Mails. KALED TENDERS will be received at this Office untill Saturday, the 20th May, 1865, at 4 o’clock p.m., from persons desirous of contracting for the following Mail service, for the period of six months from Ist July next. 1. Between Napiee and Waipawa. in a two or four-wheeled vehicle, drawn by not less than two horses. Lockers for the mail bags to be water-tight and roomy. To start from the Chief Post Office, Napier, on TUESDAY, 4th July, at 7 o’clock a m., and on every succeeding Tuesday at the same hour, and to arrive at Waipawa at 4 p.m. of the same day. The contractor to be bound in a penalty that, will enable the Chief Postmaster, at any time that the contractor may fail in carrying out his contract to employ a substitute; and that he is to receive, convey, and deliver, as addressed, all such mails as may bo delivered to him by any Postmaster at any Post Office on the line. The contractor will be permitted to carry passengers and parcels, provided it does not in anyway interfere with the mail service. Tiie return mail to leave Waipawa on FriWEEKLY.

Napier to Puketapu and to Waipuna. 6. Havelock to Maraekakaho and Keretut leaving Havelock on Tuesday, and returning thither with the return mail on Thursday evening. 7. Te Autb to Patangata, leaving Te Ante with the mail from Napier on Tuesday afternoon, and returning with the mail from Patangata on Thursday evening. 8. Napier to Waxroa. FORTNIGHTLY. 9. Porangahau to Castle Poina. 10. Wairoa to Tdranga, Poverty Bat. The Government does not bind itself to accept the lowest Tender.
