RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25. (Before J. Curling, Esq., E.M.) ASSAULT. Te Waka v. Jeff area. —The defendant produced a witness to prove that lie had not struck the Maori, hut merely pushed him out of the har with a piece of wood, for using threatening language.—The defendant was fined 16s and 4s costs, 6s of which was given to the Maori, who was severely reprimanded hy the magistrate, and told that if ho had been a white man, he should have had a months’ imprisonment. Before J. Curling, Esq., R.M, and M. Fitzgerald, Esq, J.P.) TRANSFER OF LICENSE. The License of the Alhion Hotel was transferred from Mr. J. Sehly to Mr. Colin CamphelL Sureties—Messrs A. Irvine and E. W. Knowles.
