IMPORTATIONS OF COLONIAL WOOL TO ENGLAND.
The Mark Lane Express furnishes the following important statistics respecting wool; Total imports of colonial wools in eight months of 1864, 341,131; against 306,966 bales during the corresponding months of 1863. Of foreign wools imported into Britain at the same time were 132,403 bales against 123,233 bales in the year 1863. The total number of colonial bales is made up thus, viz - : Ne iv South Wales and Increase Queensland ... 62,780 15,122 Victoria ... ... 114,825 22,549 South Australia ... 39,929 3,923 West Australia ... 2,664 448 New Zealand ... 42,383 10,832 Decrease. Tasmania ... ... 8,361 6,262 East Indies ... ... 30,841 9,980 The Capo 40,182 2,497 It is gratifying to observe the great increase of New Zealand wools.
